About me
I’ll never get over my delight at making a living from something I enjoy. I fervently believe that the worst day as a writer is still better than the best day in most other jobs – and my working day can include anything from sub-editing city travel guides to complaining about the washing up.
Other recent projects have ranged from editing the Design Manual section (“the modern designer’s guide to everything”) of Computer Arts for seven issues and writing features for the YouthNet and Barclays Money Skills partnership to interviewing athletes for the University of Cambridge.
Career highlights to date include Guardian readers and staff selecting one of my columns for the paper’s stories of the year supplement in 2007, alongside Charlie Brooker and Nancy Banks-Smith. Oh, and being hugged by Johnny Depp.
Before going freelance, I was a staff writer for DVD Monthly and entertainment reporter for BT Vision, and I also recently spent nine months production editing Official Nintendo Magazine. I hold a BA in English and Sociology, and an MA in English, both from the University of Exeter.
